RBLF OFFICER GRADUATED WITH DOCTOR OF PUBLIC HEALTH

BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA, Tuesday, 03rd June 2025 — Lieutenant Dr Wan Nurul Naszeerah binti Mohammed Zainal Abidin Ariff of the Medical Services, Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF), has recently completed a four-year Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) programme at the University of California, Berkeley School of Public Health, United States of America. The academic hood was formally conferred during the university's official hooding ceremony by Professor Layla Kwong, Chair of her dissertation committee.

The title of her dissertation “Vaccine Confidence and Infodemic in Southeast Asia's Nusantara Sociocultural Sphere: Human-AI Collaboration in Infodemiology and Prebunking as Solutions" investigates the spread of digital health misinformation across Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore by sharing cultural and linguistic heritage. The research highlights how culturally nuanced communication, supported by human-centred technologies can foster public trust and enhance health outcomes.

Lieutenant Dr Wan Nurul Naszeerah holds the distinction of being the first Bruneian to earn this qualification from the university. Her academic and professional endeavours continue to reflect a strong commitment to promoting empathetic and effective public health communication in Brunei and throughout the region.

PEGAWAI TDDB MENAMATKAN PENGAJIAN DALAM IJAZAH DOCTOR OF PUBLIC HEALTH 

BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA, Selasa, 03 Jun 2025 — Leftenan Dr Wan Nurul Naszeerah binti Mohammed Zainal Abidin Ariff daripada Perkhidmatan Perubatan, Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei (TDDB), baru-baru ini telah menamatkan Program Doktor Kesihatan Awam (DrPH) selama empat tahun bertempat di School of Public Health, University of California, Berkeley, Amerika Syarikat. Hadir bagi majlis pemakaian hood ialah Profesor Layla Kwong yang juga merupakan pengerusi jawatankuasa disertasi beliau.

Tajuk disertasi beliau “Vaccine Confidence and Infodemic in Southeast Asia's Nusantara Sociocultural Sphere: Human-AI Collaboration in Infodemiology and Prebunking as Solutions" merupakan kajian berkenaan penularan maklumat kesihatan digital yang tidak tepat di Negara Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia dan Singapura dengan berkongsi warisan budaya dan bahasa. Penyelidikan ini menekankan bagaimana komunikasi yang menitikberatkan kepentingan budaya dengan disokong teknologi terkini boleh memupuk kepercayaan orang ramai serta menguatkan kesihatan awam secara menyeluruh.

Leftenan Dr Wan Nurul Naszeerah mencatat sejarah sebagai rakyat Brunei pertama yang berjaya memperoleh kelayakan ini di universiti tersebut. Usaha akademik dan profesionalisme beliau mencerminkan komitmen yang tinggi dalam memupuk komunikasi kesihatan awam yang tulus dan berkesan di Negara Brunei Darussalam dan seluruh rantau ini.
