2nd TECHNICAL WORKING MEETING OF THE ASEAN REGIONAL MINE ACTION CENTRE


Phnom Penh, 13 September 2022 - The 2nd Technical Working Group (TWG) Meeting of the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Centre (ARMAC) convened in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 13 - 14 September 2022. Present at the meeting was Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ghazali bin Haji Hussin, Assistant Chief of Staff (Personnel and Administration) Royal Brunei Land Force HQ in his capacity as the Permanent Representative of Brunei Darussalam to ARMAC.

The objectives of the 2nd TWG Meeting is to showcase innovative financing mechanisms and sources to stimulate new approaches and partnerships to be presented at the next High-Level Regional Meeting (HLR) in October 2022. With the theme 'Enhancing Regional Cooperation and Resource Mobilisation Capacity in Mine/ERW Action in ASEAN' the meeting also discussed the development of a roadmap of activities and actions which incorporate existing national strategies and goals, plans on addressing contentious border clearance, sector upskilling requirements, research, and funding mobilisation.

Participants of the meeting had the opportunity to listen to several presentations by Mine Action experts in effort to share knowledge and expertise that focus on three thematic sessions: cross-sectoral collaboration, regional approaches to mine action, and innovative financing.

ARMAC is a center of excellence under the ASEAN Security Cooperation to encourage the efforts to address landmines and explosive remnants of war (ERW) for interested ASEAN Member States (AMS). Inaugurated on 25 May 2016, the center aims to collectively tackle the humanitarian aspects of landmines and ERW through an integrated approach of experiences sharing, skills training and other capacity building activities.

 



MESYUARAT KUMPULAN KERJA TEKNIKAL KE-2 ASEAN REGIONAL MINE ACTION CENTRE.

Phnom Penh, 13 September 2022 – Mesyuarat Kumpulan Kerja Teknikal (TWG) ke-2 ASEAN Regional Mine Action Centre (ARMAC) telah bersidang, di Phnom Penh, Kemboja dari 13 – 14 September 2022. Hadir bagi mesyuarat itu ialah Leftenan Kolonel Mohammad Ghazali bin Haji Hussin, Penolong Ketua Staff (Keanggotaan dan Pentadbiran) Markas Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei atas kapasiti beliau sebagai Wakil Tetap Negara Brunei Darussalam ke ARMAC.

Objektif Mesyuarat TWG ke-2 adalah untuk mempamerkan mekanisme dan sumber pembiayaan yang inovatif bagi merangsang pendekatan dan perkongsian baru yang akan di bentangkan pada Mesyuarat High-Level Regional Meeting (HLR) pada Oktober 2022. Dengan tema 'Enhancing Regional Cooperation and Resource Mobilisation Capacity in Mine/ERW Action in ASEAN', mesyuarat itu juga membincangkan pembangunan pelan hala tuju aktiviti dan tindakan yang menggabungkan strategi dan matlamat negara yang sedia ada, rancangan untuk menangani pelepasan sempadan yang menimbulkan perbalahan, keperluan peningkatan sector kemahiran, penyelidikan dan mobilisasi pembiayaan.

Para peserta mesyuarat berpeluang mendengar beberapa pembentangan oleh pakar Mine Action dalam usaha berkongsi pengetahuan dan kepakaran yang memfokuskan pada tiga sesi bertema: cross-sectoral collaboration, regional approaches to mine action, and innovative financing.

ARMAC ialah pusat kecemerlangan di bawah Kerjasama Keselamatan ASEAN untuk menggalakan usaha menangani periuk api dan sisa letupan perang (ERW) bagi Negara Anggota ASEAN (AMS) yang berminat. Dirasmikan pada 25 Mei 2016, pusat ini bertujuan untuk menangani secara kolektif aspek kemanusiaan periuk api dan ERW melalui pendekatan bersepadu perkongsian pengalaman, latihan kemahiran dan aktiviti pembinaan kapasiti.
