SHENZEN, PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA, Friday, 25th October 2024 - The Engineer Regiment, Royal Brunei Land Force (Engr Regt RBLF) participated in the Regional Workshop on Implementing the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) and promoting Biosafety and Biosecurity in Southeast Asia in Shenzen, Guangdong Province, People's Republic of China. The workshop was held over three days from 23rd to 25th October 2024, co-hosted by the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
During the workshop, all participants were engaged in discussions pertaining to the national implementation of the BWC and its important role as a cornerstone in the multilateral arms control and disarmament architecture. The workshop is aimed to deepen the understanding of the BWC, share good practices and to provide capacity-building opportunities towards strengthening biosafety and biosecurity among participating countries.
Major Abdul Rahim bin Haji Adris, Second in Command of the Engr Regt RBLF and Lieutenant Pengiran Masduqi bin Pengiran Haji Damit, Second in Command of the Second Squadron for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Explosive, Engr Regt RBLF had attended the workshop. Major Abdul Rahim also shared a presentation entitled “Setting Up Biosafety and Biosecurity System in Brunei Darussalam". Other participating countries include the Kingdom of Cambodia, Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Republic of the Philippines, Republic of Singapore, the Kingdom of Thailand, Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
BENGKEL SERANTAU BAGI PELAKSANAAN KONVENSYEN SENJATA BIOLOGI DAN MEMPROMOSIKAN BIOKESELAMATAN DAN BIOSEKURITI DI ASIA TENGGARA
SHENZEN, REPUBLIK RAKYAT CHINA, Jumaat, 25 Oktober 2024 – Rejimen Jurutera, Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei (RJ TDDB) telah menyertai Bengkel Serantau bagi Pelaksanaan Konvensyen Senjata Biologi dan Mempromosikan Biokeselamatan dan Biosekuriti di Asia Tenggara bertempat di Shenzen, Wilayah Guangdong, Republik Rakyat China. Bengkel ini diadakan selama tiga hari dari 23 hingga 25 Oktober 2024, dihoskan bersama oleh Kerajaan Republik Rakyat China dan Kerajaan Republik Demokratik Rakyat Lao.
Semasa bengkel tersebut, semua peserta telah terlibat dalam perbincangan berkaitan dengan pelaksanaan kebangsaan Konvensyen Senjata Biologi dan peranan pentingnya sebagai asas dalam kawalan dan pelucutan senjata pelbagai hala. Bengkel ini adalah bertujuan untuk memperdalamkan kefahaman tentang Konvensyen Senjata Biologi, berkongsi amalan baik dan memberi peluang membina kapasiti ke arah memperkukuhkan biokeselamatan dan biosekuriti di kalangan negara yang ikut serta.
Mejar Abdul Rahim bin Haji Adris, Timbalan Pegawai Pemerintah RJ TDDB dan Leftenan Pengiran Masduqi bin Pengiran Haji Damit, Timbalan Pegawai Memerintah Skuadron Kedua, Kimia, Biologi, Radiologi dan Letupan, RJ TDDB telah menghadiri bengkel tersebut. Mejar Abdul Rahim turut berkongsi pembentangan bertajuk “Menubuhkan Sistem Biokeselamatan dan Biosekuriti di Negara Brunei Darussalam". Negara lain yang turut serta termasuk Kerajaan Kemboja, Republik Indonesia, Malaysia, Republik Kesatuan Myanmar, Republik Filipina, Republik Singapura, Kerajaan Thailand, Republik Demokratik Timor-Leste dan Republik Sosialis Vietnam.
