Istanbul, Türkiye, 15th September 2024 – Colonel (Dr) Jefri bin Haji Abdul Razak, Chief Dental Services, Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) attended the Section Defence Forces Dental Services (SDFDS) Annual Meeting and the Fédération Dentaire Internationale (FDI) Annual World Dental Congress (FDI AWDC) that was held from 09th to 15th September 2024 in Istanbul, Türkiye. Attending with him were Lieutenant Colonel (Dr) Hajah Norinda binti Haji Tengah, Deputy Chief Dental Services (Clinical), RBLF and Captain (Dr) Syazirah binti Kuan, Dental Officer of Lumut Camp.
The SDFDS Annual Meeting is the main international forum for military dental services that include presentations and discussions on clinical issues, operations and management of military oral health services provision. This year, it was held at the Istanbul Congress Centre organised by the SDFDS Executive Committee representing Colonel (Dr) Jefri's appointment as the Secretary, one of the five key positions in the committees. The meeting were attended by a total of 56 military Dental Heads and Dental Officers from 22 countries.
During the meeting, Colonel (Dr) Jefri has moderated a presentation session on 'Operational Military Dentistry' as well as an open forum discussion entitled 'Incorporating Digital Dentistry into Military Dentistry', raising issues on the challenges faced in this topic. Lieutenant Colonel (Dr) Hajah Norinda represented Brunei Darussalam who delivered a presentation titled 'Dental Anxiety Among Oral Surgery Military Patients in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF)' where her study highlighted the need for oral surgeons to be well-versed in the management of dental anxiety.
FDI AWDC is the premier annual world congress that presents the latest in current scientific knowledge, clinical practice, technology and development in the oral health field. This year's theme was 'Bridging Innovation and Perfection', capturing the congress's mission to advance the science and practice of dentistry. Held over four days, it was attended by more than 20,000 participants from 130 countries. The RBLF delegation also attended the Trade Exhibition, showcasing the latest in dental technical equipment, treatment modalities, materials and technology currently available on the market in the field of dentistry.

TENTERA DARAT DIRAJA BRUNEI MENGHADIRI MESYUARAT SECTION DEFENCE FORCES DENTAL SERVICE (SDFDS) DAN FDI ANNUAL WORLD DENTAL CONGRESS (FDI AWDC)
Istanbul, Türkiye, 15 September 2024 – Kolonel Dr Jefri bin Haji Abdul Razak, Ketua Khidmat Pergigian, Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei (TDDB), telah menghadiri Mesyuarat Section Defence Forces Dental Service (SDFDS) dan Fédération Dentaire Internationale (FDI) Annual World Dental Congress (FDI AWDC) pada 9 hingga 15 September 2024 bertempat di Istanbul, Türkiye. Turut hadir ke mesyuarat tersebut ialah Leftenan Kolonel Dr Hajah Norinda binti Haji Tengah, Timbalan Ketua Khidmat Pergigian (Klinikal) TDDB dan Kapten Dr Syazirah binti Kuan, Pegawai Pergigian Perkhemahan Lumut.
Mesyuarat SDFDS ini adalah forum utama antarabangsa bagi khidmat pergigian tentera yang berlangsung setiap tahun dimana ianya merangkumi taklimat serta perbincangan mengenai hal-ehwal klinikal, operasi dan pengurusan, khususnya dalam bidang perkhidmatan pergigian tentera. Tahun ini, ianya berlangsung di Istanbul Congress Centre, anjuran Komiti Eksekutif SDFDS termasuk Kolonel Dr Jefri selaku Setiausaha, salah seorang daripada lima ahli komiti tersebut. Mesyuarat tersebut dihadiri oleh seramai 56 Ketua-ketua dan Pegawai-pegawai Pergigian dari 22 negara.
Semasa mesyuarat tersebut, Kolonel Dr Jefri telah dilantik menjadi moderator bagi sesi pembentangan bertemakan 'Operational Military Dentistry' disamping mengendalikan sesi forum terbuka bertajuk 'Incorporating Digital Dentistry into Military Dentistry'. Sesi tersebut telah membincangkan isu-isu dan cabaran dihadapi berkenaan topik tersebut. Mewakili Negara Brunei Darussalam, Leftenan Kolonel Dr Hajah Norinda telah menyampaikan pembentangan bertajuk 'Dental Anxiety Among Oral Surgery Military Patients in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF)' dimana kajian beliau menekankan keperluan bagi pakar bedah mulut untuk mahir dalam pengurusan kebimbangan pesakit pergigian.
FDI AWDC merupakan kongres utama awam sedunia yang mengemukakan ilmu, pengurusan klinikal, teknologi dan perkembangan terkini dalam bidang kesihatan pergigian. Tema tahun ini ialah 'Bridging Innovation and Perfection' dimana ianya merangkumkan misi kongres untuk memajukan sains dan penyelenggaraan perkhidmatan pergigian. Diadakan selama empat hari, kongres ini telah dihadiri oleh lebih 20,000 peserta dari 130 negara. Delegasi ABDB juga berpeluang menghadiri Pameran Perdagangan yang mempamerkan pelbagai jenis alat kelengkapan teknikal pergigian, kaedah rawatan, ubat-ubatan dan teknologi terkini dalam pasaran rawatan pergigian.
