BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Monday, 24th June 2024 – The 11th ASEAN Chiefs of Military Medicine Conference (ACMMC) commenced with an Opening Ceremony held at Rizqun International Hotel, Gadong. Delegates from ASEAN member states and observers from Timor-Leste participated in the conference, which is scheduled from 24th to 26th June 2024. This year’s ACMMC theme is “Implications of Climate Change on Military Operational Readiness and the Role of Military Medicine”.
The first session of the conference commenced with the officiating ceremony by Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, as the Guest of Honour. Also, in attendance were Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF), Acting Commander of Royal Brunei Navy, Acting Joint Force Commander, Senior RBAF officers, representatives from organisations including the Ministry of Health (MOH), and participants from the Brunei Climate Change Office (BCCO), Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Institute of Health Sciences, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Jerudong Park Medical Centre, and Safety, Health and Environment National Authority.
The second session of the conference featured presentations titled “Implications of Climate Change on Military Operational Readiness: How Can Military Medicine Play Its Role?” delivered by Ir Awang Ahmad Za’iemaddien bin Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (R) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi, Head of BCCO from the Prime Minister’s Office. This was followed by a keynote address entitled “Implications of Climate Change on Military Training and Operational Readiness” presented by Associate Professor Jason Kai Wei Lee, Director of the Heat Resilience and Performance Centre from the National University of Singapore. The ceremony concluded with presentation of tokens of appreciation to both invited speakers by the Commander of RBLF, Brigadier General Haji Mohammad Shanonnizam bin Sulaiman, who presided over the second session.
ACMMC is an annual event hosted in rotation by the 10 ASEAN countries where it provides a platform for military medical officers to share knowledge and experiences, aiming to enhance ties and cooperation among ASEAN member countries. The 11th ACMMC will include other programmes namely the Young ASEAN Military Medical Officers Scientific Programme, bilateral meetings between Delegatesof respective ASEAN Member States as well as the Senior Officers Medical meeting. Previously, Negara Brunei Darussalam hosted the 4th ACMMC in 2014.


MAJLIS PEMBUKAAN ASEAN CHIEFS OF MILITARY MEDICINE CONFERENCE (ACMMC) KE-11
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Isnin, 24 Jun 2024 – Persidangan ke-11 Ketua-Ketua Perubatan Tentera ASEAN (ASEAN Chiefs of Military Medicine Conference, ACMMC) telah bermula dengan Majlis Pembukaan bertempat di Rizqun International Hotel, Gadong. Delegasi dari wakil negara-negara ASEAN dan Timor-Leste menyertai persidangan tersebut bermula dari 24 hingga 26 Jun 2024. Tema bagi ACMMC pada tahun ini ialah “Implications of Climate Change on Military Operational Readiness and the Role of Military Medicine”.
Sesi pertama persidangan dimulakan dengan majlis perasmian oleh Mejar Jeneral Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Pemerintah Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei. Turut hadir ialah Pemerintah Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei (TDDB), Pemangku Pemerintah Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei, Pemangku Pemerintah Angkatan Bersama, Pegawai-pegawai Kanan dan Pegawai-pegawai ABDB, jemputan khas termasuk Kementerian Kesihatan, dan peserta dari Brunei Climate Change Office (BCCO), Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Institute of Health Sciences, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Jerudong Park Medical Centre, dan Safety, Health and Environment National Authority.
Sesi kedua persidangan tersebut menampilkan pembentangan kertas kerja bertajuk “Implications of Climate Change on Military Operational Readiness. How Can Military Medicine Play Its Role?” yang disampaikan oleh penceramah undangan, Ir Awang Ahmad Za’iemaddien bin Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (B) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi, Ketua BCCO dari Jabatan Perdana Menteri. Acara diteruskan dengan ucaptama bertajuk “Implications of Climate Change on Military Training and Operational Readiness” oleh Profesor Madya Jason Kai Wei Lee, Pengarah Heat Resilience and Performance Centre daripada National University of Singapore. Persidangan diakhiri dengan penyampaian cenderahati kepada penceramah-penceramah undangan oleh Pemerintah TDDB, Brigedier Jeneral Haji Mohammad Shanonnizam bin Sulaiman, yang hadir bagi sesi kedua.
Persidangan ACMMC ialah acara tahunan yang dianjurkan secara bergilir oleh 10 negara ASEAN dimana ianya menyediakan platform untuk pegawai perubatan tentera mengkongsikan maklumat dan pengalaman, dan bertukar pandangan dalam bidang perubatan tentera, yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hubungan dan kerjasama di dikalangan khidmat perubatan tentera negara-negara ASEAN. Persidangan ACMMC ke -11 ini juga akan merangkumi program-program lain seperti Program Saintifik Young ASEAN Military Medical Officers, mesyuarat dua hala di antara Ketua Delegasi ASEAN serta Mesyuarat Bersama Pegawai Perubatan Kanan. Sebelum ini, Negara Brunei Darussalam telah menjadi tuan rumah ACMMC ke-4 pada tahun 2014.
