Lieutenant Colonel Rudie Asmawi bin Hj Abidin began his military career when he was enlisted into the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) in August 1999. After undergone his Basic Military Training at Training Centre RBAF now known as Training Institute RBAF, he continued his Officer Cadet Training in Singapore and commissioned as an Officer in 2001.
Throughout his military career, Lieutenant Colonel Rudie Asmawi bin Hj Abidin held various command and staff appointments in RBAF. His command appointments includes; Platoon Commander of Rifle Company, Second Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force (2Bn RBLF); Troop leader and Training Offiicer at Armour Recconaissance Squadron, Support Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force (Sp Bn RBLF); Second in Command of Rifle Company, First Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force (1Bn RBLF); Officer Commanding, 1Bn RBLF and 2Bn RBLF. After completing his Staff Course, he held appointments as SO2 Inspectorate, Headquarters Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF HQ); and subsequently as Chief Instructor at the Training Institute RBAF. He assumed the appointment of Commanding Officer Support Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force on 1st September 2020.
Lieutenant Colonel Rudie Asmawi bin Hj Abidin has attended various military courses locally and overseas throughout his service. Among the courses, he attended Troop Leader Recconaissance Armoured in United Kingdom in 2002, Basic Manpower Officer (Singapore) in 2006 and
Kursus Lanjutan Pewira at Indonesian Army Training Centre (PUSDIKIF) in 2012. He was given the opportunity to participate in a Peace Keeping mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL) with Malaysian Battalion 850-1. Lieutenant Colonel Rudie Asmawi bin Hj Abidin was honoured and awarded with 'Pingat Laila Tugas' in 2000 and 'Pingat Jasa Kebaktian' in 2017.
Lieutenant Colonel Rudie Asmawi bin Hj Abidin is happily married to Nordewati binti Abdul Wahab and they are blessed with two daughters and a son.
