CHIEF OF STAFF
ROYAL BRUNEI LAND FORCE
Lieutenant Colonel Pengiran Mohamed Sufri bin Pengiran Haji Rosli enrolled into the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) as a recruit at the age of 24 and started his career as a Second Lieutenant upon completion of his Officer Cadet training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, United Kingdom on 01 March 1996. He was then given his first appointment as a Platoon Commander of First Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) on 11 April 1997.
He was subsequently posted to the Combat Engineer Squadron Support Battalion as a Field Engineer Troop Commander towards the end of 1997 and later became the Second-in-command Squadron in 2002 until 2004. He then served as the Adjutant of Second Battalion RBLF in 2004 and soon became the Officer Commanding of the Rifle Company of the same Battalion until 2009. He was appointed as Officer Commanding of Command Coy 1Bn RBLF and in the same year, he was posted to RBLF HQ as the Staff Officer Grade 2 Operation and Training. On 2 November 2015, he commanded Support Battalion RBLF as Commanding Officer until 18 February 2018. He took the appointment of Staff Officer Grade 1 Land Operation (SO1 J3 Land) at Joint Force HQ (JF HQ), MINDEF from 19 February 2018 until 15 December 2019 and then served as the Commandant of the Gurkha Reserve Unit on 16 December 2019 until 27 June2022. He returned to the RBLF as Chief of Staff on 27 June 2022.
Throughout his career, he has attended various military courses such as Engineer Troop Commander and Support Troop Commander Course at the Royal School of Military Engineering United Kingdom, Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Commander Course in Singapore, Company Commander Course in Malaysia, Battalion Tactic Course in Singapore and Command and Staff Course in Brunei Darussalam. He has also served with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) from 16 October 2010 until August 2011.
In recognition of his service, Lieutenant Colonel Pengiran Mohamed Sufri was awarded The Most Honourable Order of Setia Negara Brunei 4th Class (Darjah Setia Negara Brunei Yang Amat Bahagia Darjah Keempat, P.S.B.) and the Meritorious Service Medal (Pingat Jasa Kebaktian, P.J.K.).
He is an all-around sportsman. He is married to Pengiran Hajah Emmie Suharnie binti Pengiran Suhaimi and blessed with five sons and three daughters.
