BERAKAS GARRISON, Tuesday, 1 August 2023 – Dental Services Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) participates in the 69th Founding Anniversary Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Dental Service Scientific Seminar which was held today via video tele-conferencing. The theme for this year’s anniversary is “Levelling up the AFP Dental Service standards through oral health awareness to attain a fit-to-serve AFP personnel” which witnessed by almost 100 dental officers from the AFP Dental Service.
Present during the seminar was Lieutenant Colonel (Dr) Hajah Norinda binti Haji Tengah, Deputy Chief Dental Service (Clinical). She also delivered a lecture with a title ‘Wisdom Teeth: To Remove or not To Remove’ in her role as the RBLF in-house Oral Surgeon based in Dental Services Berakas Garrison. The presentation discussed the contemporary differing clinical guidelines used by Dental Practitioners and Specialists concerning the indications for the surgical removal of wisdom teeth, globally and in the military context.
The Guest of Honour during the event was Brigadier General (Dr) Torres, Chief Dental Service, AFP. Other speaker from the Philippines was also presenting two topics on ‘Healthy Philippines’ and ‘Triumph of Science Over Death: A Forensic Odontology Perspective’.
The aim of the seminar was to focus on the role of the organisation in an individual’s overall and wellbeing through different oral health programs. It also serves to further strengthen the interoperability and cultivate camaraderie with allied dental forces. Dental Services RBLF’s participation is aligned with the Strategic Objective of Enhancing Defence Diplomacy as stated in the Dental Services RBLF Strategic Plan 2022.

BERAKAS GARISON, Selasa, 1 Ogos 2023 – Khidmat Pergigian Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei (TDDB) telah menyertai Seminar Saintifik pada hari ini secara talian sempena ulang tahun Khidmat Pergigian Angkatan Bersenjata Filipina (AFP) ke 69 tahun. Seminar tersebut telah berjaya mengumpulkan hampir 100 Pegawai Pergigian AFP yang mana tema tahun ini “Levelling up the AFP Dental Service standards through oral health awareness to attain a fit-to-serve AFP personnel.”
Leftenan Kolonel (Dr) Hajah Norinda binti Haji Tengah, Timbalan Ketua Khidmat Pergigian (Klinikal) TDDB telah hadir semasa seminar tersebut yang mana beliau selaku Pakar Bedah Mulut Khidmat Pergigian membentangkan tajuk ‘Wisdom Teeth: To Remove or not To Remove‘ yang membincangkan garispandu klinikal kontemporari yang berbeza dan digunapakai oleh pakar-pakar pergigian di dalam konteks antarabangsa dan tentera mengenai pembedahan gigi geraham.
Tetamu kehormat semasa seminar tersebut ialah Brigedier Jeneral (Dr) Torres, Ketua Khidmat Pergigian, Angkatan Bersenjata Filipina. Di samping itu, pembentang lain dari Filipina turut mengemukakan dua tajuk iaitu ‘Healthy Philippines’ dan ‘Triumph of Science Over Death: A Forensic Odontology Perspective’.
Seminar ini memfokuskan peranan organisasi dalam menjaga kesihatan individu secara menyeluruh. Ia juga bertujuan untuk meningkatkan interoperabiliti dan mengukuhkan hubungan erat di kalangan angkatan pergigian tentera. Penglibatan Khidmat Pergigian TDDB sejajar dengan objektif strategik yang terkandung dalam Pelan Strategik Khidmat Pergigian TDDB 2022 iaitu meningkatkan diplomasi pertahanan negara.
