TANAH JAMBU, Friday, 26 August 2022 – In commemoration of the Dental Services Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) Golden Jubilee, a dental symposium was held today at the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF).
With the theme “The Evolution of RBAF Dental Services” the symposium was organised by Dental Services RBFL and the participants consisted of dental professionals from the Ministry of Health, the Royal Gurkha Rifles, Jerudong Park Medical Centre and other private clinics, as well as dental undergraduate students and faculty staff members from the University Brunei Darussalam.
Present as the Guest of Honour (GOH) to initiate the symposium was Colonel Azman bin Haji Bangkol, Deputy Commander of RBLF, Field Commander of RBLF, Chief of Staff RBLF, senior officers of RBLF and RBAF. Also in attendance, as invited guests were the Acting Director and Senior Dental Officers of the Department of Dental Services from the Ministry of Health, the Heads of Dental Training Programmes at University Brunei Darussalam, Brunei Polytechnic and IBTE, as well as the Senior Dental Officer of the Royal Gurkha Rifles.
The symposium commenced with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by a speech delivered by the GOH. In his speech, he congratulated Dental Services RBLF for organising the symposium as part of a range of activities held to commemorate its Golden Jubilee Anniversary. He remarked that amongst the objectives of the symposium was to further strengthen the working relationship between the various dental services and training providers, both public and private, in Brunei Darussalam. Before officiating the symposium, he also took the opportunity to commend the professionalism of the entire dental community present who had all collectively contributed to the nation’s COVID-19 pandemic response followed by a short video presentation on the evolution of the RBAF Dental Services through its 50 years.
The Keynote Lecture was then delivered by Colonel Dr Jefri bin Haji Abdul Razak, Chief Dental Officer of Dental Services RBLF titled ‘Strategic Planning Dental Services for the RBAF’ where he introduced a brief history of the organisation, a review of the outcomes of the Dental Services Strategic Plan 2010 before elaborating on the new Dental Services RBLF Strategic Plan 2022, recently launched on 10 June 2022.
The morning session of the symposium continued with presentations themed ‘Ensuring RBAF Operational Readiness via Dental Fitness’ and continued with the afternoon session with the theme ‘Forensic Dentistry as a Niche Capability’, both presented by the Dental Officers RBLF. The participants were then presented with a Static Display of the Dental Services RBLF Mobile Dental Unit and field dentistry set-up used during a recent Hearts and Minds Dental Community Outreach initiative in Kampung Melilas. The symposium then ended with a high-tea, closing remarks and a group photo at the Ceremonial Hall, DA RBAF.
The symposium aimed to increase awareness of the developments and unique capabilities of military dentistry in the RBAF as well as to strengthen the friendship and close professional bonds amongst the community of dental professionals in Brunei Darussalam, fostering potential future cooperation and collaboration, together supporting the Whole of Nation Approach.
KHIDMAT PERGIGIAN TENTERA DARAT DIRAJA BRUNEI MENGANJUR SIMPOSIUM PERGIGIAN
TANAH JAMBU, Jumaat, 26 Ogos 2022 – Bagi memperingati Jubli Emas Khidmat Pergigian Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei (TDDB), simposium pergigian telah diadakan pada hari ini bertempat di Akademi Pertahanan Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (AP ABDB).
Dengan bertemakan “The Evolution of RBAF Dental Services,” simposium dianjurkan oleh Khidmat Pergigian, TDDB dan diantara peserta hadir terdiri daripada warga profesional pergigian dari Kementerian Kesihatan, Royal Gurkha Rifles, Pusat Perubatan Jerudong Park dan klinik swasta, serta pelajar ijazah pergigian dan kakitangan fakulti dari Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
Hadir selaku Tetamu Kehormat bagi merasmikan simposium tersebut ialah Kolonel Azman bin Haji Bangkol, Timbalan Pemerintah TDDB, Pemerintah Medan TDDB, Ketua Staf TDDB serta pegawai-pegawai kanan dan pegawai-pegawai daripada TDDB dan ABDB. Turut hadir sebagai tetamu undangan ialah Pemangku Pengarah dan Pegawai Pergigian Kanan Jabatan Khidmat Pergigian daripada Kementerian Kesihatan, Ketua-Ketua Program Latihan Pergigian Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Politeknik Brunei dan IBTE serta Pegawai Pergigian Kanan Royal Gurkha Rifles.
Simposium dimulakan dengan bacaan Surah Al-Fatihah diikuti dengan ucapan yang disampaikan oleh Tetamu Kehormat. Dalam ucapan, beliau merakamkan ucapan tahniah kepada Khidmat Pergigian TDDB kerana menganjurkan simposium sebagai sebahagian daripada pelbagai aktiviti yang diadakan sempena Sambutan Hari Ulang Tahun Jubli Emas Khidmat Pergigian TDDB. Beliau menerangkan antara objektif simposium itu adalah untuk mengukuhkan lagi hubungan kerja antara pelbagai agensi perkhidmatan dan latihan pergigian, awam dan swasta, di Negara Brunei Darussalam. Sebelum merasmikan simposium tersebut, beliau juga mengambil kesempatan untuk mengucapkan terima kasih terhadap profesionalisme seluruh komuniti pergigian yang secara kolektif menyumbang ke arah usaha menangani wabak COVID-19 di Negara Brunei Darussalam diikuti dengan tayangan video pendek mengenai evolusi Khidmat Pergigian ABDB sepanjang 50 tahun perkhidmatannya.
Keynote Lecture kemudiannya disampaikan oleh Kolonel Dr Jefri bin Haji Abdul Razak, Ketua Pegawai Pergigian Khidmat Pergigian TDDB bertajuk ‘Strategic Planning Dental Services for the RBAF’, di mana beliau memperkenalkan sejarah ringkas organisasi tersebut, penilaian hasil Pelan Strategik Khidmat Pergigian 2010 sebelum menghuraikan Pelan Strategik Khidmat Pergigian TDDB 2022 yang dilancarkan baru-baru ini pada 10 Jun 2022.
Sesi pagi simposium diteruskan dengan pembentangan bertemakan ‘Ensuring RBAF Operational Readiness via Dental Fitness’ dan sesi petang bertemakan ‘Forensic Dentistry as a Niche Capability‘, yang mana kedua-dua sesi telah disampaikan oleh pegawai-pegawai pergigian daripada Khidmat Pergigian TDDB. Para peserta kemudiannya berpeluang untuk melihat Pameran Statik Unit Pergigian Bergerak Khidmat Pergigian TDDB yang digunakan semasa inisiatif Hearts and Minds memberi khidmat rawatan pergigian ke Kampung Melilas baru-baru ini. Simposium kemudian diakhiri dengan jamuan minum petang, ucapan penutup dan sesi bergambar ramai di Ceremonial Hall Akademi Pertahanan.
Simposium ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesedaran tentang perkembangan dan keupayaan unit pergigian tentera di ABDB serta mengukuhkan persahabatan dan ikatan profesional yang erat di kalangan komuniti profesional pergigian di Negara Brunei Darussalam, memupuk sifat kerjasama diantara agensi pergigian kearah mendokong prinsip Whole of Nation Approach.
