UNIVERSITI BRUNEI DARUSSALAM, Thursday 15 November 2018 – The 2nd Medical and Health Symposium in conjunction with EX CARAT was co-organized by the Medical and Health Services, Combat Service Support (CSS), Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) and Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Saadatul Bolkiah (PAPRSB) Institute of Health Sciences, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD).
Themed “Pre Hospital Medical Emergencies”, the Medical and Health Symposium was designed to encourage exchange of knowledge and experience amongst various agencies in Brunei Darussalam that are involved in medical emergencies, enabling interoperability to be enhanced. The participants of the symposium represented by various agencies, including the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), UBD, Ministry of Health, Royal Brunei Police Force, Prison Department, Brunei Fire and Rescue Department, Jerudong Park Medical Centre and Panaga Health Centre.
The Opening Ceremony for the symposium began with a Welcoming Speech from 712 Lt Col (Dr) Hj Mas Irman Rukmino bin Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Wahab, Acting Chief Medical Officer, Medical and Health Services, CSS, RBLF. The ceremony was then followed with a Keynote Speech on “Civilian-Military Interoperability in Medical Emergencies” delivered by Lt Geoff Burgerhoff from United States Navy (USN). The Guest of Honour of the ceremony, 396 Kolonel Khairil bin Haji Ismail, Chief of Staff, RBLF presented the Appreciation Gift to the Keynote Speaker. Other attendees of the Opening Ceremony included the Deputy Dean of PAPRSB Institute of Health Sciences and also representatives from Ministry of Health.
Following the Opening Ceremony, participants proceeded into breakout sessions, which were led by invited speakers from Medical and Health Services, CSS, RBLF, Dental Services, CSS, RBLF, PAPRSB Institute of Health Sciences, UBD, Emergency Medical Ambulance Services (EMAS), Ministry of Health and USN. Amongst the topics discussed during breakout sessions were Combat Medic Experience in the Warzone, Trauma Assessment, Dental Trauma, Tactical Combat Casualty Care, and Cardiac Emergencies. These breakout sessions provided learning and networking opportunities to the participants. In the afternoon, the Symposium also invited Mohammad Khairulamin, a lecturer from the PAPRSB Institute of Health Sciences, UBD to give a Keynote Speech on simulation for medical training titled “Simulation: When Your Patient is a Mannequin”.
The Medical and Health Symposium concluded with a Closing Ceremony, which was attended by Dr Zaw Wint, Deputy Dean of PAPRSB Institute of Health Sciences, UBD as Guest of Honour. He was also invited to present Appreciation Gifts and Certificates to all presenters involved. Overall, the symposium was a success and has fulfilled its objectives well.
SIMPOSIUM PERUBATAN DAN KESIHATAN DAN SIMPOSIUM-SIMPOSIUM BERKAITAN SEPANJANG EKSESAIS CARAT 2018
UNIVERSITI BRUNEI DARUSSALAM, Khamis 15 November 2018 – Simposium Perubatan dan Kesihatan yang ke-2 sempena Eksesais CARAT telah dilaksanakan oleh Khidmat Perubatan dan Kesihatan, Khidmat Bantuan Kombat (KBK), Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei (TDDB) bersama Institut Kesihatan Sains Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Saadatul Bolkiah (PAPRSB), Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD).
Bertemakan “Pre-Hospital Medical Emergencies“, Simposium Perubatan dan Kesihatan ini telah diadakan untuk menggalakkan pertukaran ilmu dan pengalaman di antara agensi-agensi di Negara Brunei Darussalam yang terlibat dalam kecemasan perubatan, seterusnya memperbaiki penyelarasan operasi bersama (enhancing interoperability). Selain daripada anggota-anggota dari Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) dan UBD, wakil-wakil dari agensi-agensi luar seperti Kementerian Kesihatan, Pasukan Polis Diraja Brunei, Jabatan Penjara, Jabatan Penyelamat dan Bomba, Pusat Perubatan Jerudong Park (JPMC) dan Pusat Kesihatan Panaga juga turut diundang sebagai para peserta Simposium tersebut.
Majlis Pembukaan bagi Simposium Perubatan dan Kesihatan tersebut bermula dengan Ucapan Alu-Aluan daripada 712 Lt Kol (Dr) Hj Mas Irman Rukmino bin Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Wahab, Pemangku Ketua Pegawai Perubatan, Khidmat Perubatan dan Kesihatan, KBK, TDDB. Seterusnya, Lt Geoff Burgerhoff, jemputan khas daripada Tentera Laut Amerika Syarikat (TLAS) telah dijemput untuk memberi
Keynote Speech mengenai “Civilian-Military Interoperability in Medical Emergencies“. Tetamu Kehormat, 396 Kolonel Khairil bin Haji Ismail, Ketua Staf, TDDB, juga telah dijemput untuk menyampaikan Cenderahati dan Sijil kepada pegawai TLAS tersebut. Turut hadir ke Majlis Acara Pembukaan adalah Timbalan Dekan Institut Sains Perubatan dan wakil-wakil daripada Kementerian Kesihatan.
Selepas Majlis Pembukaan tersebut, para peserta berpeluang untuk menyertai sesi-sesi
breakout yang disampaikan oleh penceramah-penceramah undangan dari Khidmat Perubatan dan Kesihatan, KBK, TDDB, Khidmat Pergigian, KBK, TDDB, Institut Kesihatan Sains PAPRSB, UBD,
Emergency Medical Ambulance Services (EMAS), Kementerian Kesihatan dan TLAS. Diantara topik yang dibentangkan semasa sesi-sesi
breakout adalah Pengalaman Kombat Medik di Kawasan Peperangan, Penilaian Kecederaan Trauma, Trauma Pergigian,
Tactical Combat Casualty Care, dan
Cardiac Emergencies. Sesi-sesi breakout tersebut telah memberi banyak manfaat kepada para peserta untuk menimba ilmu dan pengalaman di samping untuk menguatkan lagi hubungan pada peringkat profesional di antara agensi-agensi yang terlibat. Pada sebelah petang, Simposium tersebut juga turut mengundang Mohammad Khairulamin, seorang pensyarah daripada Institut Kesihatan Sains PAPRSB, UBD untuk menyampaikan
Keynote Speech mengenai simulasi bagi latihan perubatan yang bertajuk “Simulation: When Your Patient is a Mannequin“.
Simposium Perubatan dan Kesihatan tersebut diakhiri dengan Majlis Penutup, yang mana telah dihadiri oleh Dr Zaw Wint, Timbalan Dekan bagi Institut Kesihatan Sains PAPRSB, UBD sebagai Tetamu Kehormat. Beliau telah menyampaikan Cenderahati dan Sijil kepada semua penyampai bagi sesi-sesi
breakout. Secara keseluruhan, simposium tersebut telah berjalan dengan lancar dan telah mencapai objektif-objektif dengan baik.
