REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE, Friday, 29th May 2026 – Colonel Erwan bin Haji Ibrahim, Chief of Staff, Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF), together with a delegation from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), Brunei Darussalam, attended the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue 23rd Asia Security Summit, held from 29th to 31st May 2026 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Republic of Singapore. Also in attendance was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II.

The 23rd Shangri-La Dialogue brought together more than 550 participants from 44 countries, including defence ministers, military leaders, senior defence officials, strategic experts and industry representatives from across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. The dialogue featured a distinguished line-up of speakers, including His Excellency Tô Lâm, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, who delivered the Keynote Address during the Opening Dinner. His Excellency José Ramos-Horta, President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, also delivered a Special Address.

Throughout the dialogue, the delegation attended plenary and special sessions focusing on a range of contemporary security issues, including geopolitical competition, maritime security, regional tensions, strategic stability, defence-industrial resilience and emerging security challenges affecting the Asia-Pacific region. The sessions provided valuable insights into the evolving strategic environment and underscored the importance of strengthening regional cooperation, enhancing defence preparedness and maintaining stability amidst an increasingly complex security landscape.

Such participation reflects Brunei Darussalam’s commitment to staying abreast of evolving regional and global security developments while strengthening strategic engagement with defence leaders, policymakers and strategic experts from around the world.

KETUA STAF TDDB HADIRI DIALOG  SHANGRI-LA SIDANG KEMUNCAK KESELAMATAN ASIA KE-23 ANJURAN IISS

REPUBLIK SINGAPURA, Jumaat, 29 Mei 2026 – Kolonel Erwan bin Haji Ibrahim, Ketua Staf Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei (TDDB), bersama delegasi Kementerian Pertahanan Negara Brunei Darussalam, telah menghadiri Dialog Shangri-La Sidang Kemuncak Keselamatan Asia ke-23 anjuran International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) yang berlangsung dari 29 hingga 31 Mei 2026 di Hotel Shangri-La, Republik Singapura. Turut hadir ialah Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Pertahanan II.

Dialog Shangri-La ke-23 menghimpunkan lebih 550 peserta dari 44 buah negara, termasuk menteri pertahanan, pemimpin tentera, pegawai kanan pertahanan, pakar strategik serta wakil industri dari rantau Asia-Pasifik dan luar rantau. Dialog tersebut turut menampilkan barisan penceramah terkemuka termasuk Tuan Yang Terutama Tô Lâm, Setiausaha Agung Jawatankuasa Pusat Parti Komunis Viet Nam dan Presiden Republik Sosialis Viet Nam, yang telah menyampaikan Ucapan Utama semasa Majlis Makan Malam Pembukaan. Presiden Republik Demokratik Timor-Leste, Tuan Yang Terutama José Ramos-Horta, turut menyampaikan Ucapan Khas.

Sepanjang dialog tersebut, delegasi telah menghadiri sesi plenari dan sesi khas yang membincangkan pelbagai isu keselamatan semasa termasuk persaingan geopolitik, keselamatan maritim, ketegangan serantau, kestabilan strategik, ketahanan industri pertahanan serta cabaran keselamatan baharu yang memberi kesan kepada rantau Asia-Pasifik. Sesi-sesi tersebut memberikan pemahaman yang lebih mendalam mengenai perkembangan persekitaran strategik semasa serta menekankan kepentingan kerjasama serantau, kesiapsiagaan pertahanan dan usaha mengekalkan kestabilan dalam landskap keselamatan yang semakin kompleks.

Penyertaan seumpamanya mencerminkan komitmen Negara Brunei Darussalam untuk terus memperkukuhkan diplomasi pertahanan, keterlibatan strategik serta kefahaman terhadap perkembangan keselamatan yang mempengaruhi rantau Asia-Pasifik.
