– Twenty-eight students of the 2nd series Command and Staff Course
(CSC) 2012 were presented with their certificates of course completion
this morning. The Closing Ceremony and Certificate Presentation of the
Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Staff College which was held at the
Officers’ Mess of the Gurkha Reserve Unit at Sungai Akar Camp was
officiated by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa
bin Haji Sirat as the guest of honour.
This year’s CSC saw participants from
officers of the RBAF; a civilian officer from Ministry of Defence, an
officer from Internal Security Department and fourteen military officers
from Australia, the Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh, India, the
Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Sultanate of Oman, the
Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of the Philippines, the
Republic of Singapore, Thailand, United Kingdom and the Socialist
Republic of Vietnam.
Best student
awards during the CSC presented for ‘Superlative performance throughout
the RBAF Overall Excellence’ was awarded to Major William John McKeran
from the British Army. Meanwhile ‘Massey University Prize for Academic
Excellence’ was awarded to Major Kwan Shee Kong Benjamin from Republic
of Singapore Air Force. Lastly for ‘Outstanding contribution of the RBAF
CSC Commendation Award’ was given to Major Norsuriati bte Hj Sharbini
from Ministry of Defence/RBAF.
Also present at the opening ceremony was
the Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Services
Commanders/ Commandants, Directors and representatives from the
Embassies of respective countries.
The Command and Staff Course
is a 39-weeks course delivered in partnership with New Zealand’s Massey
University, who is responsible for delivering the academic component of
the Tri-Service course; Joint in nature. The course aims to broaden the
professional and academic knowledge and develop command, analytical and
communication skills of mid-level officers in order to prepare them for
higher command and staff appointments.

– Dua puluh lapan orang pelajar yang telah menyertai Kursus Maktab
Turus (CSC) 2012 siri ke-2 telah disampaikan dengan sijil-sijil tamat
kursus mereka pagi ini. Majlis Penutup dan Penyampaian Sijil Kursus
Maktab Turus Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) yang diadakan di
Mes Pegawai Pasukan Simpanan Gurkha di Perkhemahan Sungai Akar telah
dirasmikan oleh Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan, Dato Paduk Haji Mustappa
bin Haji Sirat selaku tetamu kehormat.
Kursus Maktab Turus pada
tahun ini telah melibatkan penyertaan dari pegawai-pegawai dari ABDB;
seorang pegawai awam daripada Kementerian Pertahanan, seorang pegawai
dari Jabatan Keselamatan Dalam Negeri dan empat belas pegawai tentera
dari Australia, Republik Rakyat Bangladesh, India, Republik Indonesia,
Malaysia, New Zealand, Kesultanan Oman, Republik Islam Pakistan,
Republik Filipina, Republik Singapura, Thailand, United Kingdom dan
Republik Sosialis Vietnam.
Anugerah kecemerlangan disepanjang
Kursus Maktab Turus ABDB telah diberikan kepada Mejar William John
McKeran dari Tentera British, penerima anugerah ‘RBAF CSC Overall
Excellence’. Sementara Mejar Kwan Shee Kong Benjamin dari Angkatna
Tentera Udara Republik Singapura menerima anugerah ‘Massey University
Award For Academic Excellence’. Seterusnya Mejar Norsuriati bte Hj
Sharbini dari Kementerian Pertahanan/ABDB penerima anugerah ‘RBAF CSC
Commendation’.
Turut hadir di majlis perasmian ialah
Timbalan Pemerintah Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei,
Pemerintah-Pemerintah Angkatan Tentera/Komandan-Komandan,
Pengarah-Pengarah dan wakil-wakil dari kedutaan-kedutaan negara
masing-masing.
Kursus Maktab Turus ini ialah satu program
berjangka selama 39 minggu, yang dikendalikan bersama Universiti Massey
New Zealand, yangmana ianya bertanggungjawab untuk menyampaikan komponen
akademik kursus "Tri-service" yang bergabung. Kursus ini bertujuan
untuk meluaskan pengetahuan profesional dan akademik dan membangunkan
arahan, kemahiran analitikal dan komunikasi pegawai-pegawai peringkat
pertengahan untuk mempersiapkan mereka bagi perlantikan yang lebih
tinggi nanti.
