PENANJONG GARRISON, 08 June 2021 –
The Chemical Biological Radiological and Explosive Defence Unit, Support Battalion, Royal Brunei Land Force (CBRE Def Unit, Sp Bn RBLF) participated in a four-day virtual workshop on Preparedness and Response Phases for Radioactive Source Search and Recovery held at CBRE Def Unit Headquarters. The workshop was held from 8 June to 11 June 2021 and was led by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Present during the workshop was Major Rahim bin Haji Adris, Officer Commanding of CBRE Def Unit, Sp Bn RBLF and Lieutenant Ak Muhd Masduqi bin Pg Haji Damit, Troop Leader for CBRE Def Unit, Sp Bn, RBLF. A total of 119 participants participated in the virtual workshop led by Mr Stephane Defour from the Department of Nuclear Safety and Security, IAEA. Other ASEAN countries that participated in the workshop included Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Republic of the Philippines.
The objectives of the workshop were to enhance the participants' ability to plan and perform radioactive source search and recovery activities effectively utilising Emergency Preparedness and Response arrangements, capabilities and lessons learned from past events. It also serves to increase the level of knowledge on the necessary activities of the preparedness and response phases for radioactive source search and recovery including aspects of its strategy, planning and practical implementation.

PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE PHASES FOR RADIOACTIVE SOURCE SEARCH AND RECOVERY

PENANJONG GARISON, 08 Jun 2021- Unit Pertahanan Kimia Biologi Radiologi dan Letupan (KBRL), Batalion Bantu, Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei (Unit Pthn KBRL, Bn Bantu, TDDB) telah menyertai bengkel
Preparedness and Response Phases for Radioactive Source Search and Recovery secara talian yang diadakan selama empat hari iaitu bermula pada 8 Jun hingga 11 Jun 2021 bertempat di Markas Unit Pthn KBRL, Bn Bantu, TDDB. Bengkel tersebut diketuai oleh
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Objektif bengkel tersebut adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan peserta dalam merancang dan membuat pencarian, pemulihan sumber radioaktif dengan berkesan menggunakan teknologi dan membuat persiapan rapi sebelum pencarian sumber radioaktif. Ianya juga meningkatkan tahap pengetauhan serta persiapan dan tindak balas yang lebih baik dalam membuat pencarian sumber radioaktif termasuk aspek strategi dan perancangan.
