FINAL PLANNING CONFERENCE MERTAK BERSATU EXCERCISE


TUTONG CAMP, Friday, 12 August 2022 - The Final Planning Conference (FPC) for Exercise MERTAK BERSATU between the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) and Malaysian Army was held from 9 Aug 2022 until 12 Aug 2022 at Second Battalion RBLF (2Bn RBLF) Officers' Mess. 

The guest officers from the Malaysian Army consisted of Major Saiful Azril bin Zahimi, SO2 Training, Malaysian Army Headquarters, Major Ung Hock Lung, Operations Officer, 3 RRD, Malaysian Army and Major Charles Anak Sakok, OC Support Company, 3 RRD, Malaysian Army was welcomed by Major Haji Nafisal@Dedy bin Haji Salim, Acting Commanding Officer of Second Battalion RBLF (2Bn RBLF). In attendance were officers and personnel of the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), RBLF Headquarters and 2Bn RBLF.

The FPC proceeded with the discussion of conduct of the exercise followed by a site visit to the infrastructure that will be used during the exercise which will also be held at  2Bn RBLF. A site survey was also conducted at the infrastructures of Penanjong Garrison which included the Royal Brunei Technical Services (RBTS) Simulation Centre and Field Firing Area (FFA), Binturan Penanjong Garrison for the preparations of the exercise. The FPC was then concluded with an official dinner and signing of the meeting minutes of FPC Mertak Bersatu between Major Pengiran Hamzah bin Pengiran Ahmad Damit as a representative of RBLF and Major Saiful Azril bin Zahimi representing the Malaysian Army at Tarindak D'Seni in Bandar Seri Begawan.

The objective of the exercise includes strengthening the military relationship between the two countries, as well as providing interaction opportunities, especially for the personnel to foster camaraderie, provide exposure to fire plans using the 81mm mortar, training and increase professionalism in the handling of 81mm mortar by RBLF and Malaysian Army personnel and knowledge sharing between the two countries. The exercise will take place between 10 September 2022 to 19 September 2022
