Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Shalleh bin Haji Ismail joined the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) in 1996. He was later commissioned as Second Lieutenant in 1998 after completing his Officer Cadet training at Officer Cadet School, Singapore Armed Forces Training Institute Military Institute (SAFTI MI), Republic of Singapore.  

Throughout his military career, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Shalleh has been entrusted to hold various staff and command appointments within the RBAF. He was assigned as Infantry Platoon Commander with C Company of the First Battalion RBLF as his early career.  He was appointed as Troop Commander at Combat Engineer Squadron (CES), Support Battalion (Sp Bn), then as the Training Officer and Operations and Second-in-Command of CES Sp Bn RBLF. He also appointed higher command at RBLF command structures such as Officer Commanding of B Company Second Battalion (2Bn RBLF), Officer Commanding of CES Sp Bn RBLF and Second-in-command of Sp Bn RBLF. He also served several staff officers such as Staff Officer Grade Two at Personnel and Administration at the Combat Service Support (CSS) RBLF and Staff Officer Grade Two at Personnel and Administrative at RBLF Headquarters, and Staff Officer Grade Two at Joint Operation Centre JOC Headquarters at Ministry of Defence RBAF.

He also served in missions which includes Staff Officer of Operation and Civil-Military Coordination (CIMIC) for the United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL) under the Malaysian Battalion in Lebanon from 2012 to 2013 and as Deputy Chief of Staff at Independence Decommission Body (IDB) Headquarters at Cotabato City, Mindanao, and Republic of the Philippines from February 2021 to April 2022. 

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Shalleh has attended various military courses locally and overseas throughout his service. Among the overseas courses are Infantry Platoon Commander Division Course, Royal Engineer Troop Commander Course and Search Adviser Course, both in the United Kingdom.  The Advance Infantry Course, Company Tactic Course, Battalion Tactic Course and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Explosive (CBRE) Defence Advisor at the Republic of Singapore. He also attended the CIMIC Course and also Global Peace Operation Course during his mission at UNIFIL.

Among local courses that he attended include Junior Staff Course and Command and Staff College at the Defence Academy RBAF (DA RBAF) which earned him a Graduate Diploma from Massey University New Zealand and graduated him a passed staff college.

In recognition of his merit services, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Shalleh was awarded The UNIFIL Medal by Sector West Command UNIFIL in Lebanon in 2013, The Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (PKLPB) in 2014 and The Meritorious Service Medal (PJK) in 2016.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Shalleh bin Haji Ismail is happily married to Dayang Emisa binti Samiun and they are blessed with a son and a daughter. During his spare time, he enjoys reading, gardening and travelling.
